This healthcare philosophy has a unique approach to the identification and treatment of diseases and disorders. With functional/integrative medicine the treatment of health problems is focused on identifying and treating the root cause of the disease or disorder. Functional/integrative health practitioners investigate all possible root causes in order to select appropriate treatments. When selecting treatments and health interventions, both traditional and alternative methods are considered. An important aspect of this healthcare philosophy is the belief that natural and less invasive therapies should be utilized when possible.
The functional/integrative medicine approach is a holistic healthcare model which considers the physical, mental, and spiritual health of a patient in order to identify and treat the root cause of diseases and disorders. With this approach, all aspects of a patient’s well-being are addressed and considered which allows the practitioner and the patient to form a partnership. As partners in health, the patient and their healthcare provider can make and achieve goals with healing in mind. -
That's easy. Time. Ever go to a doctor appointment and fill out all the paperwork and start talking about your concerns and they have no idea what your history is because they didn't get around to reading the paperwork you painstakingly filled out? We guarantee that won't happen with us.
Before your first appointment, Jennica spends time carefully going through all of your paperwork and develops a list of questions and possible things to look into. For the Review of Lab Findings appointment, Jennica goes through each line item on the test and correlates it with your other test results and comes up with a couple of care plan options to present so you can choose the one that works best with your preferences and your budget. This preparation can take a couple of hours.
The other important factor that goes into pricing is education. Countless hours of education in conventional and functional medicine have occurred to get to the point of being a competent and thorough practitioner. This increases the value of the services provided. -
Vitalign does not accept insurance. This allows us to take the best care of YOU, and not worry about insurance restrictions that prevent us from focusing on your most important needs. We can take all the time we need with you, which is significantly more than in the insurance driven medical visit world. At Vitalign, you are investing in long term health which takes more face to face time to prevent and reverse your illness.
We will, however, provide a super bill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement upon request. We will also code labs upon request so that you can submit them to/through insurance for reimbursement. We cannot guarantee that your insurance will choose to cover or reimburse you. -
We set up to packages for treatment care because we have found that several visits with the functional medical provider and health coach give our clients the tools they need to be most successful.
We feel confident that this will save you money in the long run when you have improved health, feel your best, and can see your traditional medicine provider less.

We tailor weight loss medications to the individual. That being said, we do not prescribe controlled substances like stimulants such as Phentermine. Medication options may include peptides, injections, oral medications, topical medications, vitamins, and hormones.

Wellness coaching is a key to successfully making vital lifestyle changes- everything from improving our sleep, our relationships, our nutrition, coping with stress in a better way and how to turn on that internal motivation for the changes needed to sustain our mental and physical health. Studies have shown that clients who have a wellness coach get better faster and stay healthy. We all could benefit from a wellness coach!
Functional medicine considers ‘Food as medicine”. There are so many toxins and chemicals in our modern foods that can impact our health. Our nutrition advice during sessions addresses the root cause of the triggers, helps with long term diet modifications, and recommends supplements to replace deficient nutrients that are impacting your health. We also teach you how to make the dietary changes necessary to maintain long term gain from your lifestyle changes.

The cost of serum/blood labs is not included, however, we typically find that most insurances will cover the blood labs (copays and deductibles may apply) that we order. We apply the appropriate codes to get them approved whenever possible. If you have recent labs from your PCP, please bring them into your first appointment.
Advanced labs are typically recommended such as a comprehensive stool analysis to evaluate the health of the gut microbiome (which is the center of our health universe) or you may need other advanced labs. We will discuss at the review of findings our recommendations for advanced labs to uncover the cause of your symptoms or illness. Occasionally, insurance may help cover the cost, but they are often out of pocket expenses, but well worth every penny, or we wouldn’t recommend them. Payment plans are available through our advanced lab vendor- Rupa Health.
Supplements are almost always recommended in our treatment protocols short term to get the fast results that we love. However, we believe that the key to long term health doesn’t mean you have to take a lot of supplements forever. Most of us need a couple of maintenance supplements to maintain though. We offer a discount on supplements over retail pricing.

No, Vitalign is a functional and integrative medicine practice and cannot provide the breadth of services that your PCP provides. Please continue to see your PCP for any prescription refills, annual exams, and other needed services. We will happily share our findings with them if you request that.
Our concierge services may include things that overlap with primary care services, but are not a replacement for a PCP.
